Using urban simulation to design more sustainable cities
Stream 3 – Expert exchange
Time: 09:45 – 10:05
Urban spaces are sensitive and complex. They, therefore, need the best possible forecasts to identify potentials and assess risks.
For example, if an unexploded bomb from a past war is found,
- how large must the evacuation radius be?
- Does the nearby hospital have to be completely evacuated, or is it out of danger to life?
- How will a new building affect wind flow?
These and many other questions must be answered now to ensure that cities are
- safe,
- healthy and,
- liveable
– and to facilitate adaptation to changing climatic conditions. In this workshop, you will learn from best practices and use cases in which urban simulation is used to design more sustainable cities.
Especially recommended for:
- Smart City officials
- Planning officials
- Building authorities
- City and regional planners
- Regional developers
- Landscape and spatial planning architects
